KPS Race for Life 2010
KPS Race for Life 2010 is an event promoted by KPS with the support of Cancer Research UK and sponsored by KPS, our clients, suppliers, colleagues, associates, family and friends in aid of raising much needed funds for Cancer Research UK. During the previous three years, in the name of spreading knowledge of best practices in Project Management and more, KPS sponsored events which included free workshops delivered directly to organisations at their offices across several countries worldwide. These events were KPS BPR 2009, KPS BPR 2008 and prior to this we sponsored an OGC event called BPS 2007 at the QEII Centre in London. For some time, KPS Directors had been thinking:
- Is it possible to make KPS Events and activities even more rewarding, perhaps for a higher cause? Looking deep into the heart, we know the answer to this has got to be a yes!
- Is the term ‘Best Practice’ limited only to P3M and business activities? We think not, best practice is also about responsibility of people, both collectively and as individual’s within the realm of life itself. One could say the 'Big Society' or 'Responsibility' in the words of UK's current Prime Minister, David Cameron.
- Can we still call the event a Road Show? – Perhaps, maybe, well at least the first such activity will certainly be a 'Road Show' or rather 'Race Show'!
Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. It's groundbreaking work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer has saved millions of lives. Survival rates have doubled in the last thirty years with Cancer Research UK being at the core of that progress.
Why KPS Race for Life 2010? Firstly, Cancer touches the hearts of us all, whether directly or indirectly through family, friends and loved ones (one in three of us currently get cancer). Secondly, to give even more back to the wider community we serve, as per the mission of KPS Events as a whole. This 'feeling' and sense of responsibility comes from the heart of KPS Directors and the KPS Race for Life 2010 team - Maya Kotecha, Becky and Mitali whom as of 25th July 2010 have successfully completed the race for life.
