KPS News 2008

Well as its Christmas, we thought a quick summary update on KPS activities was due. On 5th December 2008 KPS was delighted to welcome the Directors of a leading UK training organisation to KPS HQ which went extremely well. This was followed by a festive trip to attend an invitation from senior representatives of the PPM Community in BT Germany and a company in the Netherlands. KPS was then delighted to welcome BT Managing Director (UK) to KPS HQ at Stockley Park on 22nd December 2008. Although formally closed, KPS has been on the go throughout the festive period covering an estimated 3,000 miles across Europe and as always, in the name of superior customer service. A truly white Christmas with plenty of snow throughout our travels!

UK Home Office unveils plans to toughen up on foreign/international/migrant workers like never seen before. New rules announced today will mean British job seekers will get first shot at jobs in the UK market. As a result of this strengthening of UK borders it is expected to start with a reduction of more than 200,000 jobs available to migrant workers in occupations that have a shortage of skills already! It is likely that this number will increase quite rapidly. UK ministers have stated that there are substantial incentives and investments already being made to encourage UK employers to hire from within the UK along with skill development schemes available directly for uk citizens. In addition to this and the tough rules, there has been the introduction of the PBS scheme. UK employers hiring international migrants are also expected to monitor and report regularly on progress of all migrant workers taken on over a number of years. KPS welcomes, will abide by UK Home office guidelines and give priority to UK/EU citizens during the consideration of any opportunities for employment, unless it can be otherwise justified. KPS Managing Director says that these new rules and guidelines will be enforced by our organisation and any international migrant workers that may be given a privileged opportunity will be expected to earn their right to remain in the UK not to mention exceed in performance, otherwise they take the risk of being released and not being able to stay in the UK.

KPS receives approval from Progressive Media Group (PMG) to provision the Corporate PPSO proposed by KPS on 21st May 2008. The robust business case put forward has also been formally approved. Maya Kotecha has also been requested to undertake additional project management activities and so the baseline target of end June may be delayed slightly. As one would expect Maya Kotecha had mitigated these type's of risks such that any potential threat to the PPSO target launch date within her proposal has zero impact on our clients organisation.

KPS Consultant Maya Kotecha on track to deliver an enterprise class PPSO at Progressive Media Group (PMG)! Having met with the Chairman and other directors today Maya Kotecha is pleased to have identified and documented the entire & initial portfolio of programme's and projects within PMG and has put forward a robust PPSO Solution proposal for review and approval by the PMG board. Pending the Chairman's approval, Maya Kotecha has a target of launching an operational PPSO by end of June 2008. Maya Kotecha says 'based on client requirements, at this stage, an Advanced ISEB PPSO was not only my suggested route but importantly the clients preferred route (as opposed a P3O - Portfolio, Programme & Project Office)'. Maya continues to say 'I fully sanction and agree with the clients decision and especially so for one particular reason where there appears to be a major issue overlooked in the concept of a P3O. Whilst I understand the reasoning behind a P3O based on articles published by certain PPM Community magazines I am not in full agreement with them. Fundamentally, whilst some may say branding is everything, which it is to a degree, KPS believes that it is through real delivery and performance that brand awareness is created and subsequently through word of mouth (WoM). Whether it's called a PPSO or P3O is irrelevant to the client if the people and procedures within it are not up to standard and don't deliver tangible benefits - Like it or loathe it - That's the bottom line! If the PPSO and its members want to be respected and highly regarded, one needs to earn it, not necessarily rename it! Indeed, this is the general view of many of our high profile clients! Change for the better is a good thing, but change for the sake of change is quite another matter!'.

Best Practice Roadshow (BPR) 2008 Fully booked - KPS is delighted to announce that the KPS BPR 2008 is now fully booked! From Monday 23/06/08 to Friday 27/06/08 and now beyond, KPS will be visiting various organisations cascading knowledge and experiences of Best Practice Portfolio, Programme, Project, Change and Risk Management. KPS has had so much interest in this event that we've extended the baseline schedule for the KPS BPR 2008 into July 2008 in order to cater for delegate requirements, we were more than happy to do so!! KPS initially set out to offer nine free half day workshops, with the flood of requirements we have had, the total number of workshops has now grown to 11! Sadly, we had to cap it at this as our Consultants are needed on various high priority client assignments otherwise the event would have been extended even further given the high demand and our MD's giving heart!!! For those that missed out this time, all is not lost as KPS is already taking enquiries and registrations for the KPS BPR 2009! KPS welcomes those interested in registering for next year's free event to email KPS asap stating your interest or equally suggesting your own workshop topic that you'd like to see KPS deliver! Many BPR 2008 delegates have asked why we're taking such a 'risk' in offering our brain power for free, we don't see this risk as a negative threat, but in fact an excellent positive opportunity, which incidentally our M_o_R workshop delegates will learn all about soon! The simple answer given by our Managing Director Nish Kotecha was 'We are sponsoring KPS BPR events for no other reason other than quenching our thirst to give something back to our existing clients, the wider community and to raise awareness of PPM Best Practices. Nothing more and nothing less, No catch and No Nonsense, simply biz...kps.biz'.
